Dressbarn Work Outfits!

by Tinner in

This coming summer I (Lindsay) will be interning in the energy marketing department at Dressbarn, an opportunity I couldn't be more thrilled about. That being said, however, before I applied to this particular internship I was admittedly less interested in the actual clothes of the company and more concerned with the success of/amazing team in the marketing department.  As I looked for a couple of major staple pieces for work outfits, I stumbled into dressbarn and was incredibly surprised/excited about the affordable and chic expansive assortment. Even though dressbarn is primarily recognized for their dresses, they had so much more than that. I found these three jackets seen above all at reasonable prices, especially with my discount :).

Dressbarn is owned by Ascena Retail Group, who has had incredible success since its establishment in 1982. The group owns a variety of other noteworthy brands including, Maurices, Justice, Lane Bryant, and Catherines. Recently, Ascena acquired Ann Taylor & Loft, which was a huge deal for the company and important for future success.

Dressbarn is a clear product of their recent efforts in developing chic, stylish, but affordable clothing collections by Ascena and is the perfect place to stop when looking for the piece to bring your work outfits together. Visit their website at http://www.dressbarn.com and stores across the country to add a little dress barn to your dress collection!

Cheetah Trend

by Tinner in , , ,

Over time, cheetah print has developed into a fashion trend that is no longer perceived as tacky or cheap but as chic and high-fashion. Companies all over the world are taking the Cheetah trend to a new level with pieces such as these espadrille flats, bags, jewelry and jackets. The key to tastefully wearing cheetah is pairing them with pieces that are simple and neutral. Too much cheetah can be overwhelming so when trying to find the right thing to wear it with, really take the time to think about how the outfit will come together.

Try other animal prints (like this python bracelet) or the leopard Supergas we posted about before, to bring life to any simple outfit!

Sunny Daze

by Tinner in , , ,

One of the many reasons going to school in Virginia is so nice is the fact that we can sport our favorite sunny gs  all year long. These Le Spec sunglasses, purchased at the Neely Burch sale, are the kind of glasses that make a statement. They need to be worn with simple pieces so the outfit does not become overwhelming. Emma did just that, pairing them with a simple pair of Rag&Bone jeans and Splendid t-shirt, and adding this fun, bright Roberta Freymann beads and Old Navy scarf to pull it all together.

My favorite part of this outfit, however, is the green hooded jacket. As it gets a little bit colder down South, a light jacket is the perfect accessory to pull an outfit together but also to stay warm. This jacket is practical, as it's not too heavy and enough to stay warm during this in between weather. Army green jackets are trending right now so check out Shopbop and Revolve to find the one that's perfect for you and your school weather!

Finally Stumbling into Fall Weather

by Tinner in ,

This past weekend was parent's weekend at W&L, one of our favorite weekends of the year. Each year our parents, reliving their college days, host a tailgate before the big football game. They consume more mimosas and bloody marys than should be allowed for adults… and actually put us to shame. Despite the entertainment of our crazy parents, part of why this weekend is so fun is getting to finally wear some of our favorite fall pieces.

Last year at this time, Virginia was still warm enough to be wearing white dresses and skirts. This year, however, it was a rainy and chilly here in Lexington. So for the first time, since we've been back, we could finally debut our favorite sweaters, scarves, boots, and jackets. It's pretty obvious that my five best friends and I have a very distinct fall style (links can be seen below) but we're  eager to know YOUR favorite fall pieces. So sit back with your pumpkin spice latte, fuzzy socks, and computer and comment below to share your go-to fall items with us.

As the summer sadly comes to an end, having the perfect maxi dress for a final hoorah is always a great option.  The two pictured below are both reasonable and versatile. Pair them with solid jewelry, such as a gold watch or a simple necklace, to keep the focus on the dress but still give the outfit that necessary final touch. From Nantucket to Virginia...

by Tinner

While living on Nantucket this summer, I've been exposed to a number of different stores and styles that simultaneously expanded my personal taste/fashion sense and broke the bank (a.k.a. spent all of my weekly pay checks). The boots below, which are sold at the store where I work, Vis-a-Vis, are a new addition to my closet and a new obsession. You can never have too many boots at a Southern school, especially cowboy boots, as they will come in handy for both class and a lil' swing dancing at night! Also new to my closet are these layer necklaces and Forever21 dress (both affordable and versatile).

This jacket, however, was the reason this outfit was so fun. Aside from Vis-a-Vis, I also work for Vanessa Fox at a pop up store at Town Pool on the Old South Wharf. While working, I got to wear one of these specially made jackets. Needless to say, I'm obsessed! Vanessa also sells adorable men's and kid's bathing suits and has a selection of beautiful dresses. Visit her site through the link of the jacket to learn more about her and her business!

USA Pride

by Tinner in , ,

In honor of the USA's hot streak in the world cup, despite their tough loss today, we wanted to share a little American pride with some red white and blue. Summer's a great time to rock your colored jeans and this top from Forever21 is a perfect example of a simple shirt to go with them. To add a little extra to a look like this, add a fun necklace, a cropped jacket, or simple wedges. The look is easy and is great for a number of different events this summer, especially the ~Fourth of July~!! Here we go USA!

See the links below to check out these items and ones like them!

More City Looks

by Tinner in , ,

Whether we're in New York City or just wanting to look chic while going shopping, having lunch with friends, or doing errands, we're always trying to find the perfect outfits that are easy, simple and affordable! These Nanette Lepore shorts (pictured here) are perfect because they can be easily matched with an array of simple tops, jackets, or sweaters and will add a pop of color to any combination. We chose to put together this stylish but affordable bomber jacket from Free People with these shorts to add a little something edgy to an otherwise simple outfit. Adding wedges (like these ones from Zara) to a pair of flowy shorts also makes your legs appear longer and more lean.

For a night in the City we re-wore this jacket and these wedges (pictured below)  -- Click the links below to to purchase the rest of these items.
