THE BEST SEASONAL WORK COAT EVER

For years, I've had this white, long jacket from Zara that people always stop to ask me about. Though I always have to regretfully tell them that it's old, it has recently come back!!!

As I slowly embrace my new corporate wardrobe in the working world, I am always looking for simple pieces that will transform my plain jane office outfits into something a bit more exciting / fashionable. 

I was just browsing the Zara website (a regular occurrence for me) when I saw this jacket!! It is so similar to the one I have, with the slightly frayed edges and structured fit, if not, the exact same one.

The off white color makes it work for all seasons and the length gives it that work appropriate feel that's often missing in cute jackets. I promise, you will wear this coat ALL the time - out to dinner over a light wash pair of distressed jeans and a t-shirt, over an all black outfit for work, or paired with a pastel color dress and nude pumps at Easter. 

It's literally my favorite piece in my closet and has been for years. Can you sense my excitement?!

Everyone Wants To Be Like ~Gigi~

Gigi Hadid is today's it girl. It's no secret that whatever she does and wherever she goes, she is coveted. I personally am always fascinated by and curious about her clothes, in particular. Basically, whatever she's wearing, I want.

More often than not, the paparazzi catch her in a pair of fashionable workout leggings paired with a crop top, sports bra or over sized tee and the next "it" sunglasses. She was recently spotted out in NYC with her mom after picking up groceries from Whole Foods in a really cool pair of leggings and all white sneakers.

It wasn't until the other day that I finally figure out where the leggings came from and now I'm obsessed with everything SUNDRY. If you haven't browsed their website, it is a must. There is something so different/cool about all of their clothes - everything from the cozy t-shirts and dresses, to the unique sweatshirts and sweatpants. 

Though the pair Gigi wore are still in stock and super cute, there is an amazing array of other styles and shapes that I love. My personal favs are here and here.

Romantic Florals

Hi guys! Let’s talk about trends we’ve seen for a little while- “romantic florals,” open shoulder, high waist jeans and gladiators. They’ve been around for a while and they’re still in -it’s time to invest in them.

The shirt I’m wearing, I immediately fell in love with. I thought it was a really special top and this season I had always admired how special looking floral Zimmermann tops looked, but I never wanted to spend close to $500 on one Zimmermann top. This top was perfect because it had the floral pattern that I wanted and the silhouette that I wanted of the open shoulders and it was the perfect price for me. I got it on sale at Intermix, its Intermix’s exclusive line, and they had so many more floral items I loved at an affordable price.

The Intermix top I’m wearing looks pretty similar to the Zimmermann ones I love, so why is the Intermix one so much less? It’s because it’s Intermix’s exclusive line- they can mark their items lower, while producing items of the same quality because they are selling direct to consumer not wholesale. I highly recommend buying items that are direct to consumer like items from the Intermix exclusive line, “Bop Basics” on Shopbop or Aqua from Bloomingdales.

As for my jeans- I needed a new pair of ripped jeans and figured I’d give high-waisted a try! I’m so happy I did because I now pair them with almost anything; my shorter tops that need to be with a high jean and regular tops that I tuck in or let hang and cover the high waist. Ever just wanna give a lil’ hint to your friends and fam about what you’ve had your eye on? or just looking for a way to keep track and prioritize your next purchases? Hint’d is your answer—and I promise me your soon to be new obsession.

I was first introduced to Hintd a little over a year ago and as the site grew and developed, I was lucky enough to be asked to spread awareness for the brand as an ambassador. When Lucy Danziger, founder of Hint'd, first introduced me to the concept,  her enthusiasm and passion were enough to have me sold. As an admittedly avid birthday/Christmas list maker (and unfortunately just a person with a never ending mental list of items I’m dying to have), I was immediately intrigued by the idea of a curated, customized digital registry. The idea is to be able to consolidate your ideal wish list of all the things you love right now—anywhere from new shoes to a chic backgammon board (my #1 hint) to soul cycle classes to a Bieber concert. There are no limits to what you put on your list—it’s just sharing what you love. 

Here's how to do it (it's simple)--click here, personalize your page to make it unique to you and your hints by adding a profile picture, page photo, title, and description , and then simply click "Add a Hint." Within seconds, your virtual wish list is created and you can start hintin!  On your list, you have the option to add an item via a link from anywhere online or you can simply browse through the different categories and lists to get some "hintspiration." Once you have made your list, which is strategically limited to 22 items (so you pick and choose wisely), you can sort by price, desire, page aesthetics, etc. and then share with friends and family! Because you are prompted to give details about the item (such as size, color, and why you want it), it is very easy for loved ones to get you exactly what you're looking for. If someone buys something on your list, they can indicate that they bought it and have it be anonymous or not. It's super efficient and very fun!!

Hint'd is an incredible way to explore what's trending by seeing what fellow hinters are interested in and also share what's trending (which Tinner's "To-Die For's is intended for.) It's also a good place to look for presents to buy for the people in your life, as they constantly have curated editor and influencer lists perfect for the father, the runner, the gamer, etc.  Check it out--I promise you will not regret it :).

Alice and Olivia Sample Sale

HII guys! By way of introduction, I'm Leigh, a friend (and now fellow coworker) of Lindsay and will be blogging for Tinner every now and then! As I spend almost all of my free time searching trends online and trying to find the best stuff at a discount, I thought I'd give some of my insight with my guest blog to save you some time and hopefully some mula. 

For my first post, I wanted to share with you all an opportunity you absolutely cannot miss this summer: The NYC Alice and Olivia sample sale. Alice and Olivia is without a doubt my favorite brand as they are constantly releasing items that are unique, professional, flattering and on trend. However, their price point, like a lot of my other favorite brands (Zimmermann, Rebecca Taylor, Jonathan Simkhai, Self Portrait, and many more),  is definitely not realistic for me being twenty and still on my parents “payroll.” Because of this, I follow a Facebook page called 260 Sample Sale (definitely recommend) that notifies me of all sales in my area and that informed me this weekend about the Alice and Olivia sample sale. 

After my first day of work, the third intern and I rushed a couple blocks over to the sale and were ecstatic about what we found. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of beautiful pieces they had, including some of this summer’s items at an extreme discount, The sample sale was the perfect way for me to indulge in Alice and Olivia’s clothing without feeling guilty.

The sample sale is being held at 260 Fifth Avenue (about a 10 minute walk from Penn Station). Today was the first day it was held and it was open from 12-8. I arrived after work around 4:30 P.M. The venue was packed but I didn’t have to wait online to enter the store. I purchased FOUR items for $216- most Alice and Olivia items cost far more than $216.

The front of store was ready to wear items that were drastically reduced and arranged by size then style (I attached many photos of this sale area and of the price break down). The back of the sale space included a cramped area of sample items- this is where the real sales were. Sample items range from a size 0-6 (according to a sales woman working the event) but I would HIGHLY recommend trying a sample on. I was too lazy to wait online for the dressing room (the line is extremely long so budget in time for that and shoppers are only allowed 8 minutes in a dressing room at a time) and I paid the price- literally. I tried on a few of the items I purchased over my clothes, but I took a risk and bought an adorable pair of silk striped sample flare pants without trying them on. They’re too small!  So learn from my mistake and wait on the awful line to try on. Luckily everything else I purchased fit! The find that I am the most proud of is a sample of a black skirt with real leather on it for $49 (paired above with simple but trending black flats and white button-down--perfectly comfortable and appropriate for work). The prices for sample merchandise were simply unbeatable.

This sale is worth trekking to, waiting on line for and emptying your wallet for. The sale is continuing for the rest of the week Tuesday-Saturday 10 A.M.- 8 P.M. Definitely set aside time to go to it- I’m going back tomorrow!

Now Trending: Blush + Off the Shoulder

The more blogs and websites we come across, the more we see blush everywhere. I hesitate to call blush "pink" though, because I think it turns a lot of people off (including myself). But recently, it seems like its being worn by everyone under the sun - anyone from chic to preppy.

What I like about blush is that it is very soft, elegant (no matter how you dress it), and easy to wear in the spring/summer, as you can pair it with any white bottom. The color looks amazing with all skin tones, but especially if you have a little summer glow!!

This ASOS off the shoulder, blush top is definitely already one of my favorite summer pieces and is something that I am going to wear often in the coming weeks. In addition to the elegance of the color, the off the shoulder style allows you to effortlessly dress up the outfit.

~~FLASHBACK FRIDAY~~

This week we are flashing it back- to Fall 2016 (and the 80's!) during my semester abroad in Florence, Italy. Overalls and chokers seem to be one of the biggest 'throwback' trends of today's millennial fashion and we are excited to share with you how we prefer to pair them!

Like chokers, overalls are a come back item that have slightly evolved to include a more modern, chic twist. Our friend Emma Scott, pictured below (and probably one of the most photographed Tinner friends), never seizes to amaze us with her ability to stay ahead of trends by finding neat, hole-in-the-wall shops and styling their unique products with simple accessories. (Simplicity is key with overalls).

During our first touristy adventure in our new home in Florence, Emma (or Scoo as we call her) rocked these overalls with a comfortable Gap T-shirt and white, Dolce Vita Sneakers. Her simple accessories included, Rayban Sunglasses, ASHA Zodiac Ring, Michael Kors Watch, and a Leather Backpack. 

**We only got a couple confused looks from the Italians-- and turns out there is no direct translation for "American Fashion Blog," so we just went with it...

Scoo stumbled across these overalls at a pop-up in NYC called The Vintage Twin, who's motto is "Reworked Hunted Treasure. One of Each Item." At the pop-up, which gives 10% of their total company proceeds to charity,  Emma had these stressed and cut perfectly to fit her body. Offering a variety of custom vintage items at affordable prices,  the founders Morgan and Samantha Elias strive to provide unique items that allow customers to wear and express their individuality. Their mission is "hunting for treasures among the millions of quality goods that are given up each year, reworking some to make them on-trend and salvaging fabric and parts from others to create new designs."

Seeing Stripes

Every store we walk into at the moment, is filled with racks upon racks of white and blue striped pieces -- with many, eye-catching variations. For Memorial Day Weekend, Lindsay showed her festivity by pairing this striped J.Crew Factory top ($30!), with AG white jeans, Steve Madden wedges, and of course, the most classic RayBan Aviators.
