Sunny Daze

by Tinner in , , ,

One of the many reasons going to school in Virginia is so nice is the fact that we can sport our favorite sunny gs  all year long. These Le Spec sunglasses, purchased at the Neely Burch sale, are the kind of glasses that make a statement. They need to be worn with simple pieces so the outfit does not become overwhelming. Emma did just that, pairing them with a simple pair of Rag&Bone jeans and Splendid t-shirt, and adding this fun, bright Roberta Freymann beads and Old Navy scarf to pull it all together.

My favorite part of this outfit, however, is the green hooded jacket. As it gets a little bit colder down South, a light jacket is the perfect accessory to pull an outfit together but also to stay warm. This jacket is practical, as it's not too heavy and enough to stay warm during this in between weather. Army green jackets are trending right now so check out Shopbop and Revolve to find the one that's perfect for you and your school weather!

Sneaker Trend

by Tinner in

It's no secret that sneakers are very in right now but they aren't the everyday sneakers we're used to wearing while we work out. Sneakers have become a designer item, seen in almost every fashion magazine and store today, that are generating significant global profit in the shoe industry.

Why is this item, that was originally intended for comfort and support, at the top of all of our wish lists? Like every trend, some fashion icon or even one of the of the million fashionista commoners (like us) out there, matched a pair of converse or slip-ons with a stylish getup and went with it. Enough people said "huh… that looks pretty cool" and made that outfit something that has fashion blogs, style magazines, and even fashion week, bending over backwards to create note-worthy ensembles paired with high-fashion pair of sneaks.

Now, while the markets have changed and sneakers can cost up to hundreds of dollars, there are still practical, stylish, and chic sneakers available at affordable prices from companies such as Superga, Converse, Vans, and others that make keeping up with this trend easy, affordable and fun.

My grandmother always says Audrey Hepburn's biggest flaw was her huge feet. Maybe that wouldn't have been the case if she switched out her black pumps for a chic pair of supergas...

Neely by VNB

by Tinner in ,

This past weekend, Washington and Lee graduate, Neely Burch, debuted Neely by VNB,"a traveling boutique catering to fashion conscious women at rural and suburban colleges" right here on the Washington and Lee campus. Neely made her first stop on their fashion road trip, during which they'll visit UVA, Bucknell, Princeton, Trinity, and a number of other schools along the east coast, selling a variety of shoes, jewelry, and accessories, that Neely and her associates have hand-selected themselves.

Selling online and running out of a beautifully customized airstream, called NEELmobile, Neely and her employees sell a selection of well-known companies such as Tory Burch, Joie, Superga and Chan Luu.  Also on the NEELmobile, will be what I like to call "hidden gem" brands that you wouldn't necessarily see in your typical shopping routine. These brands include Le Spec sunglasses and TAI jewelry.

I bought the Le Spec's pictured above for an affordable price of $69.00 and was pleasantly surprised by the amazing quality!! I also purchased the  Mint and Rose espadrilles (that look just like the Chanel ones) for only $90.00 and I'm OBSESSED, to say the least.

My favorite part of Neely's company, and what I think is one of the many things that make her company objective unique, is the Evie bag. This bag (pictured above) is Neely's first 'Neely by VNB' brand item. The colors are customized to each of the schools they visit (the one above features Generals colors - W&L - of course). A practical size and neutral base color, this bag is perfect as a "backpack" for class or just as an everyday purse.

Not only is Neely by VNB bringing an overwhelming selection of must-have shoes and accessories right to your door-step, I think she is creating something no one has ever done before. It's almost like a fashion blog that's come to life or your Pinterest wish list board parked in your backyard. I think that's why I feel so strongly about Neely's company; she has a lot of the same objectives and goals that we have here at Tinner. We want to introduce brands and trends that we love, like Neely and her employees do when choosing companies and merchandise, while simultaneously offer a enough variety for our viewers to create and define their own personal style. Another important fascet of Neely's company that is similar to what we do at Tinner, is offering a mix of inexpensive and expensive options to let girls our age know, style can not only be easy and fun, but also affordable.

Like the Neely by VNB Facebook page and visit her website, which will be launched soon, to learn more about Neely and her company! But most importantly, look out for Neely on your college campus or a college campus near you. TRUST ME, you don't want to miss this...

Simple Essentials

by Tinner in , ,

Buying work clothes and clothes to go out in are often times very different and not appropriate for the other. Thus, expanding your wardrobe can be difficult as its hard to pick and chose between buying more for one. The outfit, pictured above, can be mixed and matched with other pieces to fit both because it uses items that are simple and understated.

A structured black skirt is a staple that you should have in your closet. It can be worn in all seasons (with tights in the winter) and dressed both up and down.

This Zara crop top was initially bought as a going out shirt. Though paired with this skirt, it becomes effortlessly appropriate for work (if you are working for a more low key company - such as advertising or fashion). Wear the top with a tighter skirt when going out at night and capitalize on its versatility.

These Tory Burch 'Reggie Sandals' are a very easy and comfortable shoe. The thick heel dresses the outfit up while keeping it more casual than pumps. They were our favorite work shoes this summer!

Transition to Fall

by Tinner in , ,

As we move into Fall, take advantage of some of the end-of-the-summer sales. These Clover Canyon pants are currently at a huge discount - as well as most of CC's collection (bathing suits, dresses, crop tops and skirts). Pair them with an oversized sweater and black heels or sneakers, depending on the look you're going for.

These silky pants have been a must-have item this year and will continue to be through the fall. They're incredibly easy to wear and not to mention extremely comfortable!

Just A Lil' More White

by Tinner in , ,

Obviously the "no-white after labor day" is generally a good rule to abide by but with some irresistible white items, it has to be ignored. These 7 jeans are an absolute favorite of ours and can be worn through September as the red leather tuxedo stripe opens the chance to bring in Fall colors.

We also love these shoes Dolce Vita sandals that can continue to be worn, especially if you live somewhere warm! Throw a white sweater, like this pullover from Vince, over a cute shirt, like this one from Love Stitch, to make a cozy but cute outfit -- perfect for a chilly night!

As the summer sadly comes to an end, having the perfect maxi dress for a final hoorah is always a great option.  The two pictured below are both reasonable and versatile. Pair them with solid jewelry, such as a gold watch or a simple necklace, to keep the focus on the dress but still give the outfit that necessary final touch. Forever Finds

by Tinner in , , ,

Going into Forever21 is always an overwhelming experience. With such a variety of inexpensive but adorable items to choose from, it can sometimes be hard to find the clothes that are right for you. Hollin hit the jackpot with this tribal print, two layer dress from Forever. It's works well as a beach coverup this summer or just as an everyday dress. Once again, we're featuring our favorite Triple Graces glasses, Michael Korrs watch, and Jack Rodgers, all must-have items to go with every outfit this summer! Check out these items and another great 'Forever Find' in the links below.
